Canada, Eh?

Monday, June 28th, 2010

It has never been on my list of travel destinations, nor has it really interested me until now, but I have recently been reading about some breathtaking nature spots there and really want to start exploring. I think Vancouver British Columbia would be a good start (since I live in Seattle and it’s close) and then I would just keep heading east until I get to Nova Scotia or something. Vancouver Hotels have a great reputation for being luxurious and very cosmopolitan, which is nice, but I think once I head into the wilderness type areas, I would look for some more down to earth acommodation. Has anyone ever traveled across Canada, and if so, can you recommend some can’t-miss hot spots? Thanks!

I’ve spent the last 10 years traveling around the world to some pretty exotic places…I always had a list of travel destinations–mostly in Asia and Europe–and have just about checked off the majority of cities and countries I wanted to visit. Now that I am settling down a bit more at home (don’t get me wrong–I’m still a traveller at heart) I feel like exploring some cities closer to home, or a bit more “normal” than exotic rainforest locations and high altitude adventure spots, etc. Strangely enough, I have an urge to just head up north a bit to good ol’ Canada!

Trading For Dummies Revolves Around The Valuation Of Forex Currencies

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

There is some agreement among economists that the highs of the euro against the dollar is not exactly a source of economic confidence, and also that the euro’s bull run is actually an effect of the efforts of U.S. authorities to keep the price of the  dollar at low levels to cauterize the high trade deficit with Japan or China. European exporters are paying for  the policy of Alan Greenspan and Treasury Secretary John Snow, to maintain a weak dollar against the yen and the yuan. It remains ironic that this policy has so far proved a fiasco for the U.S. dollar due to the strength of Asian authorities to appreciate their currencies against the dollar.

Ironies do not end there for  those involved in  stock trading for dummies. In the short term     , exporters are paying the bill for a strong euro, it is true, but perhaps the assumption of a weaker euro would be more costly for the economy as a whole. Because without the filter of the strong euro the  price  of  oil would fall with extenuating circumstances on all consumers.

A Favorite Toy For My Parrot

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

I spoil my parrot regularly with new parrot toys. One of her favorite new items to play with are the parrot climbing nets. These nets are great for exercise and enrichment. Some of the nets are available in palm fiber, sisal, or even cotton rope. Safe for my pet bird, I do not have to worry about entrapment or getting entangled since these nets are made specifically for parrots.

Recently, I watched my conure Kiwi, play and climb around on her parrot climbing net for hours. She was having so much fun clowning around. Whether she was hanging upside down, hopping, jumping, or just resting, she enjoyed every minute on her new toy.

The next time you buy a toy for your pet bird or parrot, try a climbing net. Many of these can be purchased online at specialty bird and parrot shops. I guarantee that the time spent on the net will provide hours of enjoyment.

Compost can be used to mulch around trees, or dug into the soil to provide rich nutrients for flowers and vegetables. It is also aids in drainage as well as helping the soil retain water, which keeps the plants in great condition. You can easily buy a bin to keep it in, or create your own compost enclosure with wire fencing or chicken wire. The important thing with compost is that it builds up heat so it can begin decomposing, because that is when it becomes useful in your garden landscape design. All you need are grass clippings, from mowing your lawn, food scraps and weeds. If you are buying from the store, buy several different composts and mix them together to get a better spread of necessary ingredients because often the composts in the store only have one or two ingredients in them.
