I Love Sushi is one of the busiest Santa Cruz sushi restaurants. Here are my reviews of this Santa Cruz sushi restaurant:
I went to I Love Sushi Restaurants Santa Cruz on a Monday night for the first time with a friend based on the reviews over at Yelp. I was craving some home-style Japanese cooking. Didn’t really know what to order and thought that I can’t go wrong with ordering the dish the place is named after,I Love Sushi…but I was wrong.
The dish consisted of a fried croquette, pork cutlet, piece of mackerel, and a piece of fried imitation crab meat. The whole thing was unimpressive. The rice is a bit on the mushy side. The salad is nothing to get excited over. The best part of the whole combination is the miso soup, which I actually enjoyed because they didn’t skimp on the tofu or the seaweed. My friend order the tofu don. He said it was pretty bad. I departed feeling disappointed and unsatisfied. I know good Japanese food, and this isn’t it.
Now if you want to hear about Shogun Sushi Restaurants Santa Cruz…
This is my favorite Japanese restaurant when I’m in the mood for home-style cooking. Personal faves: broiled fish cheek, tofu, and tuna. As others have said about this Santa Cruz sushi restaurant, check out the menu pronto (daily specials are a real bargain and offer a lot of variety) and be ready to give your order to the wait staff asap; if they have to go away and then come back, you might have to wait awhile as they are busy attending to other new arrivals.
Getting seated at this Santa Cruz sushi restaurant is a matter of luck and timing. Sometimes there’s no wait, and the next night the line will be down the block! Food is delicious — best miso — full of seaweed and tofu and soup is served hot, not lukewarm. If you want California roll or sushi, you’ll have to go elsewhere.
