Pruning should be done regularly to shapes the vines to their support. Honeysuckles of the American variety produce long, tubular flowers in different colors that are visually attractive. When scent is concerned, European honeysuckles are first in rank. Honeysuckles of the Asian species come in two varieties, the L. Japonica and the L. Tragophylla. L. Japonica is highly invasive, thus, this variety is usually avoided. On the other hand, L. Tragophylla produces yellow-orange blooms that have no fragrance. There are also, hybrid honeysuckles which combine good features from different varieties. Aside from being an enchanting sight, honeysuckles produce an intoxicating smell that is hard to resist.
