The Hmo Health Insurance Product
Wednesday, July 21st, 2010There isn’t hardly anything that’s simple or straight forward when it comes to insurance. This is particularly true when it comes to health insurance. With this sort of insurance, what you get is a complex and intricate network and set of matrices of benefits. It all boils down to product types, and there are a handful of discernible general types. One type is one that most people have, it tends to be the least expensive; it’s the HMO product. Under an HMO policy, what you have is a sort of controlled environment, where protocols at your doctor’s office are heavily influenced by HMO policies, and your drugs, the drugs and medications that are available to you (called a formulary) are strictly controlled as well. Under an HMO plan you have a very narrow set of physicians that you can work with, which will serve as gateways, allowing you to see certain specialists and have certain tests done.
